Pro Bono
Pro Bono
Copilevitz, Lam & Raney requires each of its attorneys to provide free legal counsel to persons in need. Each attorney can choose to provide these services based on personal interests.
From teaching Sunday school to representing disadvantaged youths to sophisticated tax advice, we help those in need at no cost to them pursuant to this pro bono program.
Representative cases:
FTC v. Corporations for Character
We filed a “friend of the court” brief on behalf of many nonprofits arguing that the FTC could not constitutionally sue a fundraiser which made inadvertent false statements (but which did not commit fraud).
In the Matter of Justus Drugstore, a restaurant
We helped a restaurant remain open and keep its name when the Missouri Board of Pharmacy alleged consumers could be confused and ordered the restaurant to change its name.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals v. Kansas State Fair Board, et al.
We challenged the Kansas State Fair Board’s discriminatory treatment of PETA which wanted to exhibit a video, sometimes graphic, discouraging the consumption of meat.
